About Us

Buying Pacifica Coffee: Our customers are committed to supplying high quality coffee. We provide them with brewers and resources to help them with this goal at no charge.

The coffee church is located in a college town. Inside the church was a man on a mission, to make your coffee taste better. He had displays and brochures and machinery all to achieve this goal. Into this place our founder, Greg Gorchels, wandered one day seeking something to help him stay awake to study longer. No matter where Greg went from there, later joined by his wife Sarah, could he find a better cup of coffee.

The search was conducted far and wide in many a country. On every return trip more equipment was bought and more was learned.Graduation from college meant not being near this coffee source and so self-sufficiency was required. Being a science teacher with the first job 40 miles from the nearest laundry mat required being able to make coffee from green to brew, or be forced to drink awful commercial coffee, which just could not be survived. A sack of coffee, machinery, and not much else to do for fun resulted in a lot of experiments and a lot of learning about coffee.

A coffee obsession grew and grew until Greg and Sarah planned vacations on how it could lead to new coffee experience. On one vacation, the couple flew all the way to Hawaii, not because they wanted to see Hawaii, but just so they could hear Alfred Peet talk about coffee and how he thought about it and how he roasted it. These were the first steps of making our special coffee that is unique in flavor and special in quality. Great attention is paid to the steps that count the most.

One day while roasting coffee for breakfast before going to teach school it was decided that the current state of affairs was just plain nuts and the only sensible thing to do was to go into the coffee business. The company was founded in 1990. Since that time we have taken many forms and started many coffee shops. The shops we started and sold off are still all in business and doing well.

Our current mission is to help small scale shops make a good living in this competitive landscape by supplying good coffee and good information gleaned from years of work. We have helped many many people achieve this goal and are very proud of the shops we work with. All of this is pursued to the end of supplying you, dear reader, a better cup of coffee.
